Who Is Elton John's Husband?
John had a civil partnership with David Furnish in 2005 and tied the knot on December 21, 2014, following the legalization of same-sex marriage in the U.K. The pair met in 1993.
Furnish, who is 15 years younger than John, came out to his family when he started dating the "That's What Friends Are For" singer. He told The Observer that he left Canada and his family because he was "ashamed" that he could not live up to his loved ones' ideal.
They share two children: Zachary and Elijah.
"Before we had the children we just had our lives and we would spend money because we didn't have anything else to focus on," he told The Mirror in 2018. "I've learned that the simplest things in life, like having a minute with them, are worth more than any painting, any photograph, any house or hit record."

As of 2024, John formally scored the EGOT acronym after winning his first Emmy award for Best Variety Special for his "Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium."
"We didn't know it would be historic because it was going to win a man, who has created the soundtrack to our lives, he's done so much great for society, who is all of our hero. We didn't know it would win him an Egot," producer Ben Winston said.
John became the 19th person to earn the status, following Viola Davis, Mel Brooks and Audrey Hepburn, to name a few.
He has five Grammy wins, two Academy awards and a Tony award.
