David Foster has been regarded as one of the most talented composers and producers in the music industry as he was able to collaborate with big names such as Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and more, but there was a point in his career where he stopped producing music.

In an interview with People Magazine, the musician revealed why he stopped producing music for eight years, saying he got bored with himself.

He clarified that he didn't get bored with the industry; it was a personal problem.

"In every decade I've been in it there's been ups and downs, good music and crappy music. I just got bored with myself and how I made records," he explained.

What Made David Foster Come Back to Producing Music

The outlet noted that David Foster made a big comeback after producing his first record in over eight years, Chris Botti's self-titled project Chris Botti Vol. 1, which is now available for streaming on major online music platforms.

In the interview, he revealed that Botti encouraged him to produce music again after he had been away for a long time.

"Thankfully he talked me into it, and I got to sit there for a week or two and enjoy these brilliant musicians led by Chris, while giving a nod of approval or saying 'Hey, why don't you try this?'" he added.

Foster explained that this project was an "easy way to produce" compared to his entire discography because before, he felt that working was "kind of like a bull in a china shop."

David Foster Now Embraces Jazz

David Foster may be a talented musician, but Jazz is a genre that he initially avoided. He clarified that he grew up listening to the genre but also admitted that he "wasn't good at it."

He was initially upset because he was frustrated about learning to make jazz music, but thankfully, he could work with Botti and Brandon Goldberg, an 18-year-old piano player.

Foster added that this new project allows him to be "close to jazz" without actually producing jazz music.

In other updates about David Foster, the musician is busy touring around the world with his wife, Katharine McPhee. They continue to perform in different cities for their An Intimate Evening tour.
