Two months ago, Classicalite reported that pianist Valentina Lisitsa invited her fans to vote online for one of three possible recital programs for her New York debut recital. More than 50 percent of voters chose Program Two (2), consisting mainly of Rachmaninoff preludes and Chopin nocturnes.

Lisitsa will present the winning program at her New York debut recital at the 92nd Street Y on October 19. Tickets for that performance are available HERE.

Lisitsa is a YouTube sensation, with dozens of videos that, together, have received over 60 million views.

Five years ago, things were different for Lisitsa. During a career lull, she began posting videos of her piano performances on YouTube. Her online fan base grew, and eventually attracted the attention of the Decca record label. Decca released her first recording, of her London concert debut at Royal Albert Hall, in 2012.

Lisitsa's invitation to fans to choose her recital program is yet another example of how she is connecting to classical music audiences in a whole new way. And it seems to be paying off for her.

An exclusive Decca Classics recording artist since 2012, Lisitsa will release her third album on the label, Liszt, on October 8, 2013.
