Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes sparked strong reactions during a Florida concert on May 31 after he pushed back against audience members chanting "U.S.A." at the Tampa show, a moment that led to boos, heated exchanges, and some fans walking out.

The incident took place at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre, where the crowd began chanting "U.S.A.! U.S.A!" after the band's stage visuals showed their crow mascot dressed in an Uncle Sam outfit. What was meant as a patriotic cheer quickly turned tense when Robinson addressed the crowd from the stage.

"Thanks for the geography lesson," Robinson said, reacting to the chant. "I don't know what you have to be so proud of right now."

The comment immediately shifted the mood inside the venue, with some fans cheering while others booed loudly. According to Billboard, as the reaction grew, Robinson stood his ground.

"For those of you f—ing booing us, some of us are not afraid," he said. "And we most assuredly are not f—ing ignorant, so thank you." His words were met with mixed responses, and videos later shared online showed some concertgoers choosing to leave during the performance.

Band Continues Tour After Chris Robinson's Onstage Reaction

According to reports from the show, the disagreement did not stop the concert. The band continued playing, including fan favorites like "She Talks to Angels," even as parts of the audience cleared out. For those who stayed, the set went on with the usual mix of energy and blues-rock sound that The Black Crowes are known for.

Robinson has not often placed himself at the center of political conversations during concerts, though he has occasionally shared blunt opinions in interviews.

According to People, earlier this year, he said he was "not interested in politics," explaining that he focuses more on music, art, and human experience. At the same time, he added that he still knows what he believes is "right and wrong," and does not shy away from expressing it.

The Black Crowes are continuing their tour across the United States, with upcoming stops in Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina.

The band recently released their album A Pound of Feathers in March and remains active on the road.
