Country legend Loretta Lynn has signed a five-album deal with Sony Legacy. The initial release will mark the 82-year-old singer-songwriter's first new album in 10 years. Though this deal has just been announced today, Nov. 6, Lynn reveals in an interview with Nashville Scene that she's been hard at work on her next project for quite some time, writing songs with country singer-songwriter Shawn Camp.

"I've been busy recording. I cut 90-some songs," Lynn claims, before going into what kind of songs she's been busy recording. "I did all my biggest ones over again, and I cut some old-timey story songs like Mommy taught me when I was in Kentucky. Like this guy that got mad at his girlfriend because she got in a bad way with him - you know, pregnant. Well, he killed her and threw her in the bottom of the Ohio River. Tied a railroad steel around her neck! When somebody would do something like that, people would write about it."

According to The New York Times, Lynn has been recording these songs in collaboration with her daughter Patsy L. Russell and John Carter Cash, son of Johnny Cash.

Lynn's most recent album was her critically acclaimed 2004 effort, Van Lear Rose, which was produced by Jack White, who also performed through the entire album. Her upcoming album, which has yet to be given a title or release date, would be her 55th overall.
