It's not tough to get photos from The Grammys but it has been tough to get backstage photo from The Grammys, at least up until now, as the Recording Academy has announced that it will continually release backstage shots of winners as they come off stage during the broadcast of Sunday's ceremony (from The Hollywood Reporter).

Danny Clinch has been the official photographer for the event for a more than a decade now, having taken backstage shots at the event since 2003. Those images have traditionally been kept private from the outside world, occasionally released to a select few as gifts from Recording Academy president Neil Portnow

The idea isn't a new one, as awards shows look to boost their direct social media presence. The Golden Globes employed a similar scheme when it had noted photographer Ellen von Unwerth post pictures of the winners walking offstage after receiving their trophies.

"We are excited to share some of these wonderful, authentic moments via Instagram with music fans around the world," said Evan Greene, the Recording Academy's chief marketing officer. "This year, we are providing an exclusive glimpse into our official Danny Clinch backstage Grammy portrait studio."

Clinch began his career as an intern for Annie Leibovitz and ended up becoming one of the most acclaimed photographers of musicians, most notably for his work with Bruce Springsteen and Johnny Cash. He has also directed documentary features for Springsteen and Pearl Jam

The Grammys are sure to be the hottest subject on Sunday evening now that the NFL has wrapped up. We'll see if the new source of shots will contribute to the conversation.
