• Diplo Talks Grammy Nominations, 'Lean On' Snub, Skrillex and Justin Bieber in New Interview

    Diplo may himself be nominated for three Grammy Awards this year (Producer of the Year, Best Dance/Electronic Album and Best Dance Recording), but the "Where Are U Now" DJ isn't being quiet about his opinions on the award show. In an interview with The New York Times, Diplo spoke on his nominated works as well as some of the major snubs in EDM, including "Lean On" by his group Major Lazer, featuring DJ Snake and MO.

    Imagine Dragons narrowly edged out Drake on this week's Billboard 200 charts, as streaming and single downloads allowed the emcee and 'If You're Reading This It's Too Late' to almost catch the rock band's 'Smoke + Mirrors.' On the pure albums chart however, the Las Vegas band had a more significant cushion: Its second album sold 169,500 copies, marking the highest sales week of its career. Drake's surprise album sold 129,000 copies in its second week.

    Everyone expected the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack to run away with this week's Billboard 200 chart...but then Drake happened. The emcee and his LP/mixtape If You're Reading This It's Too Late topped the list by moving 575,000 equivalent albums. The new metric for the chart, which takes streams into consideration, played to his favor as the album received more first-week streams than any other album in Spotify history. Among the other accomplishments that Drake managed to nab with his surprise album was becoming just the second hip-hop act to land his first four albums atop the Billboard 200 (the other is DMX). He quickly became the second bestselling performer for 2015 (behind Taylor Swift).

  • Lady Gaga to Perform at the Oscars

    Hollywood will welcome one of the music world's biggest stars for this year's Oscars. Lady Gaga recently confirmed on Instagram and Twitter that she will be singing at the awards show on Feb. 22. No word on what she's performing or if her mentor, Tony Bennett, will be with her. The pair performed on Sunday (Feb. 8) at the Grammys.

    The new Billboard 200 format has been hot on its incorporation of streams and single downloads into arranging the most relevant chart in music, yet the folks at Billboard failed to notice one thing this past week: For the first time ever, the top of the 200 was different than the album at the top of the albums chart. Although Taylor Swift and 1989 was no. 1 on the chart everyone was watching, it only sold 77,000 actual copies. That's a boost from last week, but not enough to take no. 1 on the albums chart from Now 53, which sold 98,000 copies.

    Chris Brown attended Meek Mill's Grammy party over the weekend, but he wants everyone to know that he did not fight or get beat up. TMZ reported that a fight broke out at the bash, and rumors started to swirl that Brown had been involved. The singer denied any involvement in the altercation on Instagram recently. Damage was done to the house.

Bey talked about the political message of the song following the ceremony in a video clip, revealing her personal connection to the standard as well.

CBS caught up with producer/DJ Diplo, who was on hand with Madonna to see her perform the song they did together, "Living for Love," from her upcoming album "Rebel Heart" and asked him a few questions. Among other things, he was asked about his upcoming projects, and he gave a more concrete timeline to the long-awaited Jack Ü album with Skrillex that fans have been eagerly waiting for, saying it will be released "this month."

    Last night the Grammys took over Staples Center in Los Angeles and not only were there 23 performances of all shapes, kinds and sizes and awards given out to mostly Sam Smith, Pharrell and Beck (sorry Kanye), but there was also the media circus that followed the whole thing. Artists and celebrities had their pictures taken and various outlets grabbed musicians as they tried to navigate their way into the venue for interviews. Some focused on serious questions like actual music, while others at Buzzfeed asked artists what was their favorite song to have sex to. The subject was broached with Katy Perry and she was not shy about sharing her answer.

Current head of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, Neil Portnow introduced the group, titled the Grammy Creators Alliance, with Jennifer Hudson and Ryan Tedder and delivered their mission statement on air.

    The Grammys have never been and never will be a perfect representation of music. Every year there are cries from all corners of the music world about nomination snubs and cries of indignation from artists and their friends who feel they should have won an award. This year that cry was heard the loudest after Beck won Album of the Year ahead of favorite Beyoncé, though he really should have been paying attention to Best Metal Album, where Jack Black's group Tenacious D won. Trey Songz, who was not nominated this year, sounded off on the academy, saying the Grammys "shortchange culture for popularity every year."

    Birdman couldn't make it past security Saturday night (Feb. 7) when he made his way to Nicki Minaj's pre-Grammys party in Hollywood. TMZ was on the scene to capture video of the Cash Money Records founder being denied entrance to the club. Security guards stopped Baby and his entourage before Los Angeles police officers were called over to help.

  • Grammys '15: Brian Johnson Aided by Teleprompter During 'Rock or Bust'

    In case you were living under a rock or happened to be in a coma for the past 24 hours, the 2015 Grammys were last night, Feb. 8. The show kicked off thankfully without a long intro from LL Cool J -- the entire affair was lengthy to start with -- and launched right into a two-song performance of "Rock or Bust" and "Highway To Hell" from AC/DC. The '80s rockers came out blazing with a high-powered performance equipped with pyrotechnics, fireworks and big production. It was a youthful performance all around except for one point: The teleprompter used by the presenters was also used by AC/DC singer Brian Johnson to help him out with the words to his own song "Rock or Bust," via "Mediaite."
