Soap fans are absolutely thrilled to hear that Rebecca Budig is on her way back to daytime television. She is best known for her portrayal of Greenlee Smythe on All My Children from 1999 to 2011, and it was a role that gave the actress two Daytime Emmy nominations. In the years since last appearing on soaps, Budig has been seen as a syndicated talk show host on The Better Show and just gave birth to her first child, Charlotte Jo Benson, last fall. Budig is joining General Hospital to play a new character, who head writer Ron Carlivati described as "a real spitfire."

Executive producer Frank Valentini added that this would be a "Killer role."

Other than that, we do not know much at all about her new character and how she will fit in to the seedy underworld of Port Charles.

Budig herself has confirmed the news and tweeted, "I can't wait to be a part of #GH and to work with a group of very talented people!! #excited."

While Carlivati may not be giving up much info just yet, we do know that Budig is at her best on camera when she is either stirring the pot or making real trouble for the poor soul in her way.

Readers: Are you guys surprised that the popular actress is on her way back to daytime? She had such a great run on AMC that this gig must sound pretty amazing if it lured her back to her old stomping ground.
