The music industry mourns one of its own today. Grooveshark co-founder, Josh Greenberg, 28, was found dead Sunday in his Florida home. Greenberg was found dead in his bed Sunday by his girlfriend in the house they both lived in. There is no evidence of foul play, drugs or injuries according to The Gainsville Sun.

Lori Greenberg, his mother told local reporters that her son was in good spirits recently with a positive outlook on the future with more projects in mind. He was not depressed after Grooveshark had been shut down in April and was relieved to no longer have the lawsuit hanging over his head.

The news comes just weeks after Grooveshark agreed to shut down completely, wiping its servers and dissolving as a company in the light of numerous copyright lawsuits from record labels. The labels were threatening to sue it for millions in damages - an amount that would have bankrupted Grooveshark, so they had to shut it down. A former Grooveshark user apparently copied the site and it briefly popped up under a different domain name, but that did not last long before it was also shut down.

The death of Greenberg comes as a tragic twist of a man who had become an early pioneer in streaming, having founded Grooveshark with Sam Tarantino at the University of Florida at the age of 19.

An autopsy is being conducted today and should provide some preliminary results as to the cause of death but a toxicology test could take weeks, if not months.

This is a developing story so stay tuned for any updates.
