Ryan Adams shared details on his forthcoming project to cover Taylor Swift's new album 1989 in the style of The Smiths. Revealing a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the project via Instagram, Adams captioned his latest creative endeavor as "1989 as played by The Smiths." Featuring well-loved tracks like "Style," "Welcome To New York" and "Blank Space," it can be presumed that Adams' revamp of her recordbreaking release will only increase the pop star's already monolithic appeal.

Possibly bridging the gap between the fans of the son and heir's legendary outfit and die hard followers of Swift, Adams' take on 1989 will, in a way, couple the raw emotives of The Smiths with Swift's irresistibly loveable pop anthems. Already showcasing his aptness for coupling Morrissey's emotional aesthetic with 1989, Adams promised fans via posts on his Instagram that his rendition of "Welcome to New York" is "guaranteed" to be the "saddest version" to date. A probable tearjerker, the track, along with "Blank Space" is reported by Adams to possess a "deep end Smiths vibe," as Stereogum reports.

Her reaction to the project? Sheer joy. The pop starlet responded to the news with the following tweet: "Is this true??????? I WILL PASS OUT." Upon Adams confirmation of the project, she responded by stating that she would not be able to sleep because of the news.

For fans of Morrissey and The Smiths, Adams re-styling of 1989 might not inspire such jubilation. Although the blogosphere is buzzing about the announcement of this project, sources have yet to hear Morrissey's thoughts on Adams vision for the chart-topping LP. Remarks from Johnny Marr's former bandmates also have yet to be reported. In the meantime, it can be presumed that Morrissey's response will not be as jubilant as the pop star's.

As the world waits for his response, perhaps Swift could cover "This Charming Man?"
