My Morning Jacket's vibrant folk style is unlikely inspiration for a four-on-the-floor dance song, but Giorgio Moroder saw the potential in the tune "Compound Fracture" off the folk-rock band's 2015 album, The Waterfall.

Moroder and Roman Luth remixed the Louisville based band's song into a modern club banger. What started as a simple but catchy laid back tune, off the band's highly acclaimed 2015 album, has turned into a blast of synthesizers and bass with frontman Jim James providing the vocals for the house song.

"The song was great to begin with. There is so much energy in their music that lends itself naturally to the electronic world," Moroder said according to Rolling Stone. "The first time I heard the song, I was immediately inspired to add the essence of disco without taking away from the existing melody. This remix will make people smile; make them want to dance."

Despite the stark stylistic change, this actually isn't My Morning Jacket's first dabble into dance music. "Touch Me I'm Going To Scream, Pt. 1" off of My Morning Jacket's 2008 album, Evil Urges, takes a new wave/prog tinged take on dance music, utilizing synthesizers and heavy, repetitive bass lines.

The band released the official music video for "Compound Fracture" just two weeks ago, featuring a kaleidoscopic of footage of the band's live show at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheater, both on-stage and behind the scenes. The video was recorded at the band's August show surrounded by the gorgeous red rock of the legendary theater and was directed by Danny Clinch.

Moroder's remix comes with a trippy visualizer of its own, as images of a waterfall are run through a starburst filter and slowly pans around the crashing waves. The imagery closely matches the band's album artwork.
