It is the season of giving and that is exactly what Shlohmo is going. It has been a little while since we last heard from the Los Angeles-based producer, but fans are happy to see his music return in one form or another. His highly touted debut artist album Dark Red was released in April and now he has released four remixes from Baauer, Chet Faker, Jacques Greene and Jim-E Stack to help freshen things up. To top things off, the full EP is free.

The first track on the EP is a remix of the slow burning "Slow Descent" by Jim-E Stack, which keeps much of the original but adds some scattered noises and additional percussion. The following rework for "Ten Days Of Falling" comes from the normally bright and funky Jacques Greene, who leaves those house and disco grooves behind for something that fits the darker nature of the track with some wooden percussion and light snare rolls.

Unfortunately, Jacques Greene's remix will be compared to Baauer's and the Los Angeles-based producer is too well-versed in how to create or remix these types of songs. Baauer has been playing out in his sets his remix for some time and chops up the vocal even more, while adding a chugging bass line underneath and brings out the best of the song's atmospheric synths.

Chet Faker rounds out the group of four remixes in the Dark Red EP. He takes on Shlohmo's "Remains," singing a brand new verse on the tune and then chops it up over the second half of the song, mixing it in with the slow and high-pitched instrumental from Shlohmo.
