Canada's Polaris Music Prize announced the 2014 list of 40 nominees Wednesday night at Calgary's National Music Centre, NME reports.

Among those listed were Arcade Fire, with the release of Reflektor, Drake, who dropped Nothing Was The Same last year, and Mac DeMarco who recently released Salad Days.

A shortlist of 10 albums will be announced on July 15 prior to the prize-giving ceremony on September 22.

Other nominees include Jessy Lanza, Solids, Pup, Owen Pallett, Austra, Tim Hecker, Chromeo, and Diana.

As NME notes, albums released between June 2013 and May 2014 are eligible for the award, which includes a $30,000 prize. The winner will be decided by a jury panel of journalists, broadcasters, and bloggers. Last year's winner was Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
