Cody Simpson revealed whether he still writes songs about Miley Cyrus.

Simpson and Cyrus once became one of the hottest couples in the industry when they started dating in 2019. The duo eventually broke up after 10 months of dating.

Despite taking different paths after their split, Simpson indirectly spoke about his ex in a new interview to promote his new single, "Nice to Meet You," as part of his upcoming new album.

In an interview with Billboard's Chelsea Briggs, he explained that he chose "Nice to Meet You" as the lead song from his first full-length album since his "Free in 2015." According to the singer, the song serves as a "perfect introductory statement" to him and his music.

In addition, it follows his 2019 single "Golden Thing," which he wrote for his then-girlfriend Cyrus. He hinted that his album focuses on love and relationships, revealing that he indeed has songs about her.

"At this age, for me, these things mean a lot. It's a great source of inspiration," he said. "I think there's a couple inspired by a few different relationships I've had."

Simpson Grew Up As Better Person After Break Up

Elsewhere in the interview, Simpson said he is excited for everyone to see the man he has become.

Per the singer, his new project is just a real statement of his journey over a period of time, tackling his life and emotion.

"I've just sort of rolled it all up into a great statement of who I am in my life and who I've sort of been all along but hadn't found the right avenue to share it," he went on.

Simpson's new song and the album will arrive over a year since he and Cyrus broke up in August 2020. They first sparked dating rumors in October 2019 when the "Wrecking Ball" hitmaker shared a photo of her on Instagram where she called Simpson her boyfriend.

From being friends, they reportedly tried establishing a strong, romantic relationship. In fact, when they got bombarded with breakup rumors a few months after they began dating, Simpson shared a photo of his phone's wallpaper that showed a childhood photo of Cyrus.

Unfortunately, they ended up parting ways to do what they want with their lives.

As for Simpson, he told "60 Minutes Australia" that everything between them ended fairly amicably.
