The music industry is going through a shift, a clear shift of rights, ownership, monetization, and the importance of true fanbases. With his latest release which took place on June 30th of a generative music NFT drop called "Digital CD.v1", he managed to make a disruptive mark by releasing a collection of music in this new generative way to enable benefits for true fans and to incentivize new potential fans to become a part of an artist's journey early.

For the people that didn't yet have the chance to become familiar with NFTs and how they work, NFTs are scarce, cryptographic tokens. These tokens represent unique items on a blockchain that are not mutually interchangeable. A physical example of a non-fungible asset that is easy to understand is a plane ticket. Each ticket has a unique passenger name, destination, seat number, and departure time. The same is true of an NFT. Each token is different and has its unique attributes. Tokenizing digital art as an NFT not only allows someone to turn their creation into a scarce, unique item that is collectible and tradeable across a blockchain, but it also enables them to prove authenticity and track ownership. Connie Digital mentioned in a recent interview with Web3PR: "Not only is this project about reinventing myself, but it's also an experiment on how to release a collection of music in Web3. This is a new way to distribute a collection of music, whether an EP, album, or mixtape."

Upon mint, collectors receive a randomized CD (NFT) with a randomized track, jewel case, and poster. Rarity traits and gamification are also built directly into the minting mechanism. Releasing music as a generative project allows collectors to become active participants by minting their own personalized Digital CD out of hundreds if not thousands of potential combinations.

We asked how this started and Connie told us that he was creating NFTs since 2019 and was always exploring ways to connect the dots between traditional music distribution and the opportunities web3 gives producers and artists. He said, "For years I iterated on the design of cassette tapes and tokenized many of these creations." In April 2022, he began to reimagine the vibe of CDs and started making new artwork as the foundation for his generative music NFT project, Digital CD.v1.

In another recent Interview, Connie dived deeper into the importance of Crowd Dynamics, the importance of crowdfunding for upcoming artists, and what huge impact this can have to provide independence from traditional labels and distribution mechanisms.

Artfunder: Culture Pledge is working on a crowdfunding platform for artists by artists. Would you consider leveraging crowdfunding to enable your creations?

Connie Digital: I would absolutely consider leveraging crowdfunding. I think there's a unique bond that develops between a creator and their crowdfund supporters that is deeply special. I've always wanted to deliver a studio album complete with dope videos and artwork. Leveraging crowdfunding to bring this to fruition would be a great story.

Artfunder: How would you feel about providing a share of potential future profits (eg. from digital music streaming, NFT sales, etc.) to your backers, similar to how tech startups function?

Connie Digital: If there were a simple interface and smart contract to seamlessly enable such a thing, I feel this would be a win-win-win for the artist, the backers, and the fans.
