2022 was a big year for Bad Bunny, with several Grammy nominations and wins, a record-breaking world tour, and chart-topping music, but it seems like he's stepping away from the limelight for a while.

Much to fans' dismay, Bad Bunny told Billboard back in December 2022 that he is planning to take a break, "I'm taking a break. 2023 is for me."

True to his word, the "Me Porto Bonito" rapper wasted no time and began putting his plans into action pretty early into 2023.

According to reports, Bad Bunny his social media accounts, namely his Instagram and Twitter accounts, into private mode, but not before he left a cryptic note on his bio.

The rapper's bio reads: "me van a extrañar," which translates to "you will miss me" or "you're going to miss me."

Although, it should be noted that not all of his social media accounts are private, as his Facebook page and TikTok accounts remain available to the public.

Although Bad Bunny never really explained much about this indefinite hiatus, many are worried that he might be actually retiring.

Retirement, Backlash

This comes after an incident involving the rapper and a fan, who got a little too close to him, which resulted in him throwing the fan's phone.

Recent reports revealed that the Puerto Rican rapper ran into some issues with some fans after they invaded his privacy.

The fan was trying to take selfies with the "Titi Me Pregunto" rapper, but instead, he felt like they were being disrespectful.

"The people who come up to me to say hello, to tell me something, or just to meet me, will always receive my attention and respect.

"Those who come to put a f**king phone in my face I will consider it for what it is, a lack of respect, and I will treat it likewise," the artist's statement regarding the incident read.

His statement was met with mixed reactions, but after his cryptic message, fans are more understanding towards the rapper.

"I hope that everything Bad Bunny is doing is because he is going to release a new album," a fan wrote.

"Bad Bunny be doing too much," another added, agreeing that he does need to take some time off.

According to reports, Bad Bunny's hiatus is generally for rest and it is the time for him to celebrate his accomplishments.

"For my physical health, my emotional health to breathe," he said. "We're going to celebrate. Let's go here. Let's go there. Let's go on the boat."
