R. Kelly is not happy even after his charges in Chicago were dropped.

Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx, through her office, announced Tuesday that she would drop four indictments related to the sexual abuse and assault charges filed against R. Kelly. A status hearing was supposed to take place on Tuesday, but the announcement ultimately canceled it

Foxx said she would ask a judge to dismiss the charges as she explained that "sometimes justice is served even when there is no conviction."

Following the release of the statement, R. Kelly's attorney Jennifer Bonjean told a news outlet that the recent development did not save the singer from his other troubles. She revealed she spoke with her client after Foxx's decision, and he reportedly felt no relief at all.

"There is no real sense of relief. He is still fighting for his life. He is facing decades in prison," she said, adding that Fox made the right decision.

The infamous musician has already been convicted by New York and Illinois federal courts in relation to the several federal crimes he committed, including sex trafficking, racketeering, enticement, and child pornography, among others.

He was sentenced to 30 years in the New York case. Meanwhile, he could be imprisoned for 10 to 90 years in the Illinois case. The final sentencing is scheduled for February.

R. Kelly's Chicago Charges Explored

R. Kelly was charged in Cook County in 2019 with crimes related to allegations that he victimized women and girls.

Nine of the aforesaid counts said one of his victims was between 13 to 16. One count did not disclose any ages. One victim, who was not identified as a minor, said R. Kelly forced sexual contact with the victim.

Although the Chicago charges were dropped, Foxx said his accusers "are to be commended for their bravery and their relentless pursuit of justice, no matter how long it took."

Before the recent development, R. Kelly's defense attorneys requested the charges to be dropped. They argued that the crimes he committed within the state had lighter potential sentences compared to his already-convicted federal cases.

R. Kelly is also facing charges in Hennepin County, Minnesota, following his alleged engagement in a prostitution case in July 2021. The case is yet to start its trial.
