Twitter Blue: Beyoncé, Jack Harlow, and Other BIG Musicians’ Verified Checks Removed; Here’s Why

Gone are the days when celebrities' accounts are identifiable as legitimate Twitter pages by their blue checks because Elon Musk promised that he would be removing verified check marks on accounts; which music artists are affected by this big change?

According to ABC 7 Chicago, the tech billionaire made the shocking announcement last week, saying the final date for removing "legacy Blue checks" will be on April 20.

This is not just for any regular users, but also accounts owned by some of the biggest celebrities and public figures.

The big news was met with controversy as Monica Lewinsky and actor William Shatner publicly opposed to the idea as verified checks determine online users which accounts are real and not parody or impersonation pages.

Elon Musk said the main reason why he changed the verification system of the website is because he wanted to treat everyone "equally" and there shouldn't be a different standard for public figures.

Twitter Verified Check: Which Celebrities Got Their Legacy Blue Marks Removed?

According to Uproxx, there are a handful of celebrities, most especially from the music industry, who had their verified checks removed.

One of which is probably one of the biggest musicians around the world over the past few decades, Beyoncé. As of this writing, Queen Bey's account appears to be like anyone else as it doesn't have a blue check anymore.

Jack Harlow also had his legacy Blue check removed yesterday. Aside from musicians, notable figures, including Pope Francis, are also not verified on the social media platform.

However, there are a handful of celebrities that still has blue checks on their account including Taylor Swift, who si currently traveling across North America for her massive "The Eras" tour.

How to Get Blue Check on Twitter?

Celebrities shouldn't be worried about getting their verification marks removed as they could sign up to Twitter Blue to get their checks back. However, unlike before, every user has an access to it, not just notable people.

Twitter verified recently tweeted: "Tomorrow, 4/20, we are removing legacy verified checkmarks. To remain verified on Twitter, individuals can sign up for Twitter Blue." In addition, organizations could also sign up for verification as well to get the yellow check.
