While performing "Marjorie" in Nashville Friday night (May 5), Taylor Swift noticed a surprise amongst the crowd.

Near the mainstage, fans were waving dozens of printed photos of Marjorie - her grandmother and muse for the personal Evermore song.

In honor of her grandmother, the "Anti-Hero" hitmaker saw a heartfelt tribute in front of an audience of 70,000 at Nissan Stadium. Many were moved as she spoke, and tears were streaming down her face, per Billboard.

Taylor was in awe when she saw Marjorie's portrait being shown on The Eras Tour. Despite this, she stayed calm and sang, "If I didn't know better, i'd think you're still around."

As the song ended, the "Lavender Haze" singer smiled before placing a hand to rest gently on top of the heart.

The vast audience in attendance responded by illuminating every corner of the stadium, from floor seats to nosebleeds, with their phone lights.

A hush fell over the crowd as "Marjorie" settled in at the piano in Nashville. She paused and looked around, curious why they were so quiet.

"So," she began slowly. "That was a song that I wrote about my mom's mom. My grandmother."

"She was a singer too, and unfortunately passed away when I was only 13."

An understanding murmur passed through the crowd before the "Lover" singer continued.

Taylor said, "I just know that my mom, right now, is just like bawling and has been for the solid last five-and-a-half minutes, and I love you guys so much. That was so meaningful and so special."

In stark contrast to Taylor Swift's fond reaction to the tribute, responses in the comment section of a video posted on Twitter that captured the scene were generally negative.

One fan even went so far as to call it "abhorrent."

Another person shared her opinion saying this action taken by a fan towards the family of Taylor Swift is one of the most reprehensible things they have ever encountered.

"I don't even care whether Marjorie, a deceased relative of Taylor, might have enjoyed it - what sort of rationale could ever make this seem like an acceptable choice?"

Another individual expressed shock that someone held up photos of Taylor Swift's dead nan while she performed onstage.

They wrote, "I would have a mental breakdown and throw my microphone at someone's face."

A third Twitter user responded to this tweet, expressing sympathy towards Taylor by writing, "Idk anything about Taylor Swift; I had to click the original tweet for clarification because I thought they were referring to Marjorie Taylor Greene. That is so inconsiderate; I feel so bad for her."

Some have brought attention to the actions of certain Swifties, claiming they go too far. They stated, "No matter what situation arises, some Swifties cross the line without hesitation. This behavior is completely unacceptable and could even be seen as frightening. Taylor should not have to endure any disruption of her privacy or lack of respect."
