Be warned: Twitter and Instagram lingo is leaking into pop music lyrics. Earlier this week, girl group Fifth Harmony released a new song from its upcoming debut album Reflection, and it's all #NoFilter and #IWokeUpLikeDis in the pop track "Them Girls Be Like."

Fifth Harmony plays into shallow female stereotypes on the new single, singing "If you ever been around then you'll hear this / Talking all that crazy sh-- like we do," they sing in the pre-chorus after asking mundane things like "Do I look fat?" and "Should I call him back?"

This is like a non-ironic "#SELFIE," and it's pretty bad.

As a listener, it makes me feel like I'm missing something in these lyrics. Is there something here to say this is a joke or, hey girls, let's worry about stuff other than selfie angles and how to interact with a boy on Instagram? How can this be the same fivesome who released the roaring "BO$$," where they declared they don't need a man because girls run this world?

Instead of continuing on empowering pop for girls, Fifth Harmony got cheap, aiming for buzzing words to, what, promote this song further on Twitter?

Though the lyrics are the dumbest part of "Them Girls Be Like," it's not the only way this song falls flat. Though minimalistic beats can work, the production on this track feels weak... this is clearly an album song, not a hit single, and it should rightly get buried under stronger material.

We expected more from you, Fifth Harmony. Where's the boss when you need her?
