It seems that Elton John has moved on over his long-standing conflict with Madonna.

In a heartfelt message on Instagram on Thursday, the 76-year-old Rocket Man complimented the 65-year-old Queen of Pop for her recent show honoring AIDS victims.

This was their first public interaction in almost ten years.

"We're deeply moved by the heartfelt tribute from @madonna during her Celebration Tour performance of "Live to Tell", honouring the 40.4 million people we've lost to AIDS," he wrote.

"Thank you, Madonna, for your advocacy and compassion, and for raising important awareness of the ongoing mission to end AIDS."

He gave some statistics to show why this is such an important issue. He said there are 39 million HIV-positive individuals worldwide, 9.4 million of whom are not receiving life-saving medication, so it is crutcial to continue to use platforms that will make sure everyone has the chance to live long, healthy lives.

During her 'Live to Tell' performance on her Celebration Tour, Madonna showed a poignant slideshow of photos from her Instagram account, The AIDS Memorial, playing behind her. Freddie Mercury, Cookie Mueller, and Madonna's friend Martin Burgoyne are among the people whose photographs are on show.

Following the performance, a written tribute with the words "In loving memory of all the bright lights we lost to AIDS" displayed behind the vocalist. Despite initial fan speculation that Madonna "liked" the post, she hasn't responded to Elton's compliments in public as of yet.

In a post detailing the ways in which the Papa Don't Preach hitmaker has supported the LGBT community, the AIDS Memorial also paid tribute to her. Millions of people lost their lives to the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s and 1990s, and many of the victims suffered from poverty and family abandonment.

This catastrophic calamity erased entire generations and transformed cities into cemeteries.

"During the 1980s and 1990s, millions of lives were lost to the AIDS epidemic, with a significant number of victims experiencing destitution and abandonment by their families. This devastating crisis turned cities into graveyards, erasing entire generations."

"Since day one, @Madonna has been an ally in raising awareness and mobilizing resources during the AIDS crisis," the post read.

Madonna provided consolation to AIDS patients during a time when medical professionals were reluctant to treat them.

She stayed by their side to ensure that they wouldn't have to face their last moments alone. Madonna began her Celebration tour earlier this month at the O2 Arena in London. She recently disclosed that, just seven days into her 78-date world tour, she is feeling under the weather once more due to a bacterial infection that required her to reschedule her concert series.

Her eagerly anticipated trip is scheduled to go on through 2024 and into the upcoming months.

Up until December, she will still be touring the UK and Europe; several of her gigs have already sold out. Her tour will commence in December with a stop in Brooklyn, North America.

Her Mexico City gigs in April 2024 are already fully booked. When he referred to Madonna's song "Die Another Day" as the "worst Bond tune ever" in 2002, Elton John and Madonna got into a fight. When Madonna was nominated for Best Live Act and Sir Elton took home the Classic Songwriter Award at the 2004 Q Awards, things got really serious.
