Patti Smith will miss some of her Italy tour stops due to her health condition.

Italian news outlet TGCOM24 published a report about Smith being rushed to a hospital in Bologna, Italy, on Tuesday, December 12, due to a sudden illness. She was set to perform at Teatro Duse, but the venue confirmed the cancelation of the show due to what happened.

"With great regret, we inform the kind audience that the Patti Smith concert scheduled for today ... will not be able to be staged due to a sudden illness that struck the artist," the venue said in a statement written in Italian.

What Happened to Patti Smith?

The media outlet revealed that Smith was sent to the Maggiore Hospital in the area for a medical evaluation. She was soon discharged after her doctors confirmed her good condition.

Aside from the Teatro Duse, Smith's team also canceled her appearances in Venice and Milan on December 14 and 15, respectively. Her next schedules in Chicago and Brooklyn remain active.

Smith and her representatives have yet to release a statement regarding the development.

The singer, known as the "high priestess of punk-poetry," started her career in the 1970s. Her contributions to the music industry led her to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.

She has also published collections of poetry and books, including "Just Kids," which scored a National Book Award for non-fiction after the release.

"Robert [Mapplethorpe, the photographer] was always worried because I had so many different ways of expressing myself," she told Harper's Bazaar in 2022. "So many vocations, and why couldn't I stick to one? I just can't. It's funny because every once in a while, somebody very nicely says I have all these different ways of expressing myself, I'm a Renaissance woman, but I think more I'm really a jack-of-all-trades."
