Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff began working together in 2013 for her song "Sweeter Than Fiction," and it has been ten years since then, but they are still solid.

Despite their long friendship and constant collaborations in the recording studio, Antonoff is still sometimes caught off guard by the "Cruel Summer" singer's talent for songwriting.

"The stuff that shocks me the most is someone's vulnerability in a song. The end of 'You're on Your Own, Kid' is one of those moments for me," the Bleachers musician said about Swift's fifth track from her 2022 album "Midnights."

"I remember, she wrote that right in front of me, and then we put it down, and I was completely punched in the gut. Beautiful."

"You're On Your Own Kid" follows the singer seemingly talking to her younger self, and reflecting on her life as both a musician and a person.

"From sprinkler splashes to fireplace ashes / I gave my blood, sweat, and tears for this / I hosted parties and starved my body / Like I'd be saved by a perfect kiss / The jokes weren't funny, I took the money / My friends from home don't know what to say / I looked around in a blood-soaked gown / And I saw something they can't take away," she sings in the bridge of the song.

Jack Antonoff Struggled Producing 'August'?

Elsewhere in his interview, Antonoff cited another song Swift released that he "struggled" with: "August."

"The end of 'August,' the strings and twangy guitar - that was one where it was really in my head, production-wise, for a long time," he explained about the "Folklore" track. "The end has to be so euphoric. She's talking about, like, 'Meet me behind the mall' and 'Back when we were living for the hope of it all.' I kept attaching to all of her lyrics and being like, This crescendo at the end has to feel like all of that, on fire."

"August" has become a favorite among the singer's fans, and it is from her eighth studio album, "Folklore."
