Movie musicals might be something that producers have tried to avoid because of its appeal to general audiences. However, top-billing artists seemed to be a guaranteed factor that pulled people into watching them.
For example, there are quite a bunch of musicals getting adapted to the big screen in 2024, and fans couldn't contain the excitement!

While many cited superhero movies, a bunch also looked forward to the arrival of Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande on the big screen next year.
According to Fandango, the Most Anticipated New Performances on the Big Screen included Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn in the upcoming sequel of "Joker," titled "Joker: Folie à Deux."
According to reports, the movie will be treated as a movie musical, which earned a lot of mixed reactions from moviegoers. However, many thought that Lady Gaga, who earned an Oscar nomination in "A Star Is Born" would definitely kick the role of Harley Quinn in "Joker" right out of the park.
Although not a musical, "Beetlejuice" will finally have its much-awaited sequel with "Beetlejuice 2." Winona Ryder, Michael Keaton, Catherine O'Hara, Willem Dafoe, Monica Bellucci and Justin Theroux, will be starring in the horror-comedy movie, along with Jenna Ortega, whose performance is the second most-anticipated.
At No. 3, Ariana Grande's dream of a lifetime role in "Wicked Part 1" as Glinda is the third most anticipated new performance. Even before she took over the music industry, Grande started as an actress on Broadway, before becoming Cat Valentine in "Victorious."
She had made several motion picture roles in the past years including "Don't Look Up" and even on the small screen as Penny Pingleton in "Hairspray Live!" Grande is playing Glinda on the two-film adaptation of "Wicked" alongside Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, and more!
Other artists whose big screen performances were anticipated are Pedro Pascal in "Gladiator 2" and Chris Pratt as Garfield in the new "Garfield" movie.
Meanwhile, Fandango also listed "Mean Girls" and "Wicked" as two of the Most Anticipated Comedies of the year and "Joker: Folie à Deux" as one of the Most Anticipated Superhero Movies of 2024.
