• Aphex Twin Uploaded Another 40 Songs to user48736353001

Aphex Twin -- real name Richard D. James -- has been dumping unreleased demos onto an anonymous SoundCloud account over the past 10 days, which in total came to 110 demos. It was thought that after all of them had been put online and made available for free download that the uploading was over and he had exhausted his store of available music. Thankfully, we were wrong. As of this writing James has uploaded another 40 songs onto user48736353001's account, and there may be more going up as the day goes on.
  • Aphex Twin Shares 'Diskhat ALL Prepared1mixed' from New EP [LISTEN]

Tomorrow, Jan. 23, electronic artist Aphex Twin — aka Richard D. James — will be releasing his new EP "Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments PT 2," but today he has offered a small taste of the EP by sharing a remix of its opening track "Diskhat ALL Prepared1mixed 13" through his newly created SoundCloud page, which you can check out below. The track is relatively low-key and moody, with some krautrock-inspired percussion and an emphasis on the space between notes as much as the notes themselves. As the title of the EP implies, the track seems to be rooted in acoustic instruments such as drums and piano, which have then been manipulated by computers. You can't really dance to it — do people really dance to Aphex Twin? — but it is still incredible.
  • 7 Solo Artists Who Have Performed Under Multiple Names

As good as your music may be, one of the most important aspects of "making it" in the music business is simply getting your name out there, and making sure people remember it. These seven artists, however, decided to switch between multiple aliases, largely for artistic reasons, which probably makes organizing their albums in a record store a huge pain.
  • Aphex Twin Releases 21 New Songs for Free on SoundCloud

Did Richard D. James, known professionally as Aphex Twin, just try and pull a Beyoncé? Last week he supposedly uploaded tracks made by his 6-year old son, who was 5 at the time of their creation. Now he has decided to put onto his account 21 tracks — 42 minutes 57 seconds in total of new music. This is the second part of his Syrobonkers interview with blogger Dave Noyze, which the first segment revealed that his son was making music when he was 2. Though this seems far from a finished, complete album, to have 21 new tracks from Aphex Twin for free on his SoundCloud is a shock to the system after he just released his album via Warp Records "Syro." Before that, he was silent with no music for 13 years, so this much Aphex Twin music — sounds that take time to fully digest — is a shock to the system and is indicative of his wonky, zany style. As per Fact Mag, the tracks were made about 12 years ago on Buckla and Serge modular synthesizers, which Aphex Twin describes as "a f--king racket." This collection is not for the lighthearted and for some casual listening. This is weird, trippy stuff that you would expect from Aphex Twin as he explores the limits of Buckla and Serge modular synthesizers.
