Over the weekend, Kygo sold out the historic Hollywood Bowl and brought along several of the singers from his new album Cloud Nine. They included Labrinth, John Legend and Seal, but one name was not present - Maty Noyes. The "Stay" singer wrote in a lengthy Instagram post that she was sidelined by Kygo's manager and not allowed to perform, despite all of what she had done for them. Seeing this, Kesha backed the singer in this rift.
In Noyes' post, she explained that she had been touring with Kygo for most of the past year for no money and then was punished for getting sick and missing one show.
"I'm sick of dealing with these sexist pigs in the industry," she wrote. "I'm standing up for myself.
Kesha, no stranger to battling men in the music industry, came to the defense of Noyes in an Instagram post of her own, saying "it's unfair to you, and it's unfair to the fans."
After several posts, Kygo's manager, Myles Shear issued an apology to Noyes, via Billboard.
"I would like to personally apologize to Maty for what has come of this situation," he wrote in a statement. "The recent issues we had been working out should not have kept you from performing at these shows. The Kygo team and I are deeply appreciative for Maty's dedicated work ethic while sharing stages and success across the world. I'm truly sorry for what was said and for the situation that unfolded, and hope you will accept my apology."
