After changing the release date from February to June, the wait is over. SZA released her debut album, Ctrl, which has guest appearances from Travis Scott and Kendrick Lamar. The album features fourteen tracks and is less than an hour.

The singer previously released tracks "Love Galore" featuring Travis Scott and "Broken Clocks." Last night, Kendrick Lamar dropped "Doves In The Wind" on SoundCloud which serves as third track on the LP. The LP features production from Pharrell Williams, Greg Landfair Jr., Carter Lang, THANKGOD4CODY, and The Antydote. As the album goes on she talks about messages of love, hate, heartbreak, revenge, and self-perception.

SZA stopped by The Breakfast Club where she talked about the reason for the delay of her album. She admitted it was hard meeting people’s expectations. She said, “It's like halfway through I felt someone was expecting from me, and I was like, 'I don't know how to meet expectations. I'm just a human being.” When asked about her creative process, she expressed the difficulties she finds in her expressing herself from time to time. She went on to say, “I used to be very metaphorical, very figurative, and also just kind of scared to talk about the way I felt in a literal way.”

SZA sat down with Pharrell back in March of this year where she explained that her brother inspired her to start creating music, despite her gymnastics background. However, at times, she felt it was easier to listen to music rather than create it. She said, “Doing music seemed like a job, Like a burden that would remove the joy of listening to it. Like I don’t listen to music anymore but not because.. I think It’s probably because I do it. At The time when I was younger, all I did was listen to music I didn’t do anything else.”

The Ivy Park fashion line model also teamed up with James Fauntleroy for her “Wavy” track. Fauntleroy is more recently known for his feature on Beyoncé’s album, Lemonade, where he was one of two features on that LP.

SZA sets the tone for what’s to come which is nothing short of greatness.
