Chart-topping singer and actress Rihanna is now venturing into intimate apparel with her own line of lingerie called Savage x Fenty.
For weeks now, the 30-year-old has been teasing her new collection on her official social media pages. She has posted sneak peeks at the 90-piece collection that comprises a lot of lace, fur, and ultra sheer fabric.
Savage x Fenty Line Sells Like Hot Cakes
The line dropped on Friday, May 11, at midnight and because of the overwhelming demand, fans had to wait in line for a few minutes in order to browse the collection. Unfortunately, shortly after the launch, a lot of the items were sold out.
Comfort And Style
To celebrate the launch of her new collection, Badgal RiRi opened a pop-up store in New York City on Thursday, May 10. The Barbadian star revealed the idea behind the line and how regular, everyday women can wear the pieces from the collection.
"[The line has] sexy gifts for your girlfriends, whether you're a man, whether you're a woman, whether you're just a best friend. The best gift is lingerie, we all want that," she explained to ET. "There's a lot of stuff that feels really comfortable, comfortable enough to wear under like a T-shirt and jeans. You need those everyday situations, and you need the stuff that takes you out of your box."
In a press release, Rihanna, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, reiterated the importance of comfort and confidence in her line of lingerie.
"We want to make people look good and feel good," she stated. "We want you to feel sexy and have fun doing it."
Similar to her Fenty Beauty makeup that offered a wide range of foundation from the palest of pale to the darkest of dark, Savage X Fenty will offer nude shades of lingerie for various skin tones.
In addition, the line also offers sizes from 31A to 44DD or XS to 3X. The all-inclusive lingerie line is now available on the official savagex website.
Rihanna's Iconic Met Gala 2018 Costume
The lingerie line comes n the heels of Rihanna's appearance at the 2018 Met Gala in which she is a co-chair alongside Amal Clooney. At the event that took place on Monday, May 7, the recording artist graced the red carpet of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City wearing a heavily-beaded Maison Margiela dress with a coat and a miter-style hat.
The theme of the night was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination and it featured priceless items sent to the event by the Vatican.
In an interview with The Catholic Channel on SiriusXM, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the head of New York's Roman Catholic diocese, revealed that Rihanna's cardinal hat was actually an authentic piece.
"The news said she was wearing a tiara," Dolan said and revealed that it was actually his hat. "She gave it back to me this morning...She was very gracious."
He also added that having his hat on the red carpet of the fashion and art event (and worn by a world-famous pop star) made him quite popular with his auxiliary bishops. He joked that, in return, Rihanna has volunteered to do confirmations.
