Model Laith Ashley, who starred in Taylor Swift's "Lavender Haze" music video, revealed the reason why he was afraid of touching the singer during the filming.
Swift has been taking over headlines since she dropped her new album, "Midnights." All the songs under her 2022 album made it to the charts, and they even secured the entire Top 10 on Billboard 100.
The feat made the "Ours" hitmaker the first musician to achieve the whopping milestone.
Among its songs, "Lavender Haze" received a music video. It features trans model and actor, Laith Ashley, who made a shocking revelation about his appearance.
Why Laith Ashley Was Nervous Working With Taylor Swift
After the music video release, Ashley appeared in an interview with Elle in which he shared why he did not want to touch Swift during the video filming despite playing his love interest.
Per the actor-model, trans men respect women.
"Like I know we're acting, but I always say it's the trans masculine urge to just be overly considerate of a woman's body and her boundaries," he said. "So I was nervous and awkward and smiling the whole time, because I was so nervous."
When asked about the scene where he dances with the singer before she dips her, Ashley revealed he asked if he could do that. He also asked her permission if he could carry her.
Swift, who always pours everything she has into her work, said yes before jumping on him.
The "Teardrops on My Guitar" singer's song reached No. 2 on Billboard Hot 100. Meanwhile, its album "Midnights" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and stayed on the spot for five weeks.
Laith Ashley Could Not Believe He Was Chosen for the ROle
Ashley also opened up about the public's response to his appearance and how he thought the offer was a prank.
Per the model, people gave him an overwhelming response after seeing him work with Swift. At the same time, he felt grateful, especially since he is a Swiftie.
Ashley revealed that Swift's team reached out to his team and informed him of the offer to join the singer in her project.
Although he agreed to it, he and everyone on the set had no idea about the song except for the confirmation that he would be her love interest. He reportedly thought Swift was working on a re-recorded album, but he soon found out the other details on the day the world also found out about it.
Ashley then said that Swift wore an ear wig the entire time to keep her "Midnights" plans a secret.
