Tiësto, the Dutch DJ set to make history as the first-ever in-game DJ for the 2024 Super Bowl, has announced his withdrawal from the event due to a personal family emergency. The news came today (Feb. 8) via a tweet from Tiësto himself, expressing regret over missing the game in Las Vegas this Sunday.

In his tweet, Tiësto mentioned the extensive preparations he and his team had made for the event but emphasized that family obligations take precedence. Despite the setback, he expressed gratitude to the NFL for the opportunity and expressed optimism about collaborating on future projects.

Tiësto, who is currently scheduled to perform at the Brooklyn Hangar tonight (Feb. 8) and tomorrow (Feb. 9), has not confirmed whether he will proceed with these shows.

Originally slated to entertain during breaks in the Super Bowl game, with segments of his performance to be broadcasted on CBS and live-streamed on his social media channels, Tiësto's absence raises questions about a potential replacement. Meanwhile, Las Vegas will still see a lineup of prominent DJs performing in various clubs over the weekend, including Zedd, Illenium, and The Chainsmokers.

Although Tiësto's withdrawal is a disappointment, the Super Bowl 2024 festivities are still set to deliver musical excitement. Usher is slated to headline the halftime show, accompanied by performances from Reba McEntire singing the National Anthem, Post Malone performing "America The Beautiful," and Andra Day singing "Lift Every Voice and Sing" during the pre-game ceremony.

Since Super Bowl LIV in Miami in 2020, the NFL has incorporated DJ sets before the game, with notable artists such as DJ Khaled, D-Nice, Zedd, and DJ Snake taking the stage in previous years.
