Instead of a celebratory mood, fans of the Kansas City Chiefs went on into defense mode as they scrambled after shots were fired at the Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri during the Kansas City Chiefs Homecoming parade.

Meanwhile, Kansas City Chiefs' Travis Kelce's girlfriend, Taylor Swift, who was thought to be attending the parade was safe because she avoided the event to fly to Australia for "The Eras" Tour.

Melbourne television station 10 News First reported that Swift is already on her way down under for her upcoming string of shows in Australia for "The Eras" Tour.

After Super Bowl Sunday, Swift, who flew from Tokyo to Nevada, clubbed with Kelce and her own parents to celebrate the Chief's victory against the San Francisco 49ers.

Kansas City Chiefs Parade Shooting Update

CNN reported that there was already a reported casualty in the Kansas City Chiefs parade shooting and more than 20 were being treated for gunshot wounds following the senseless violence on the said celebration.

The publication reported that there were 22 people with gunshot wounds, some of whom were children. Around 15 people were with life-threatening injuries while six had minor ones.

As of this writing, the Kansas City Police had already detained three people for investigation, while one is still being chased.

A circulating video saw a bystander tackling someone. CNN got a hold of that bystander and described the moment he tackled the gunman as a "reaction."

"He was fighting the whole time," he told the outlet. "And we were fighting him to keep him down."

Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris called Congress to pass "reasonable gun safety laws" following the horrific parade incident. To date, this is the 48th mass shooting this year in the United States.

"The reality of it is a lot of this can be prevented if members of legislatures, including the United States Congress, just have the courage to act with reasonable gun safety law," Harris told reporters.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Police assured everyone that everyone from the Chiefs including their families were safe and accounted for.

Travis Kelce took to Twitter/X to address the horrific incident.

"I am heartbroken over the tragedy that took place today. My heart is with all who came out to celebrate with us and have been affected. KC, you mean the world to me," he tweeted, shortly after Quarterback Patrick Mahomes confirmed that he's also safe.

As of this writing, Taylor Swift has not yet reacted nor expressed anything about the tragic event.
