Over the past few days, several foreign dignitaries have sparked conversation on the alleged exclusivity deal that Taylor Swift has signed to only perform at Singapore in the Southeast Asian region for her "The Eras" tour.

Swift's tour, projected to be the biggest in touring history, was only held in Singapore and Japan for its Asian leg. Since then, lawmakers have complained about the reported exclusivity deal prohibiting her from performing in other Asian countries.

"Our agencies negotiated an arrangement with her to come to Singapore and perform, and to make Singapore her only stop in Southeast Asia," Lee defended. "A deal was reached. And so it has turned out to be a very successful arrangement. I don't see that as being unfriendly."

He also pointed out that it was unclear whether she would have toured in other countries even if she had not signed the deal.

The Singaporean parliament has since dismissed reports that they offered around $2-$3 million for Swift's exclusivity deal.

"I can say that it is not accurate and not anywhere as high as speculated, but due to business confidentiality, we cannot reveal the specific size and conditions of the grant," Singapore's Culture Minister Edwin Tong said in a statement.

Filipino lawmaker Joey Salceda has requested a probe into the business deal. Thailand Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has lamented the arrangement, saying they could've struck a similar deal if they had known.
