How Did Air Supply Become Famous?

The founding members of Air Supply, Russell and Hitchcock, first met in 1975. At the time, they were rehearsing for the Australian production of the hit musical Jesus Christ Superstar. The duo spent some time together as the series of shows toured across Australia and New Zealand for 18 months.

From there, they decided to form the group Air Supply. Initially, they worked with Chrissie Hammond, also one of the musical's cast members, as their vocalist, but she later left the group.

Their biggest break came when Rod Stewart invited them to be the opening act on his North American tour.

Since then, Air Supply has released several iconic songs and become a household name. The band has released over 17 studio albums and 13 compilation albums, including Love & Other Bruises, The One That You Love, The Book of Love, and many more.
