Apple CEO Tim Cook touched on a variety of topics in a recent interview with Charlie Rose.

Cook started off by revealing that the company had been working on the Apple Watch, which was announced last week, for about three years, Billboard reports. The announcement came so early in order to let social media sites work on an app for the watch, he added. The CEO then got into the recent acquisition of Beats Music for $3 billion, calling company leaders Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine "creative geniuses." "All of a sudden it dawns on me that when I listen to theirs for awhile, I feel completely different," he told Rose about the music company. "And the reason is that they recognized that human curation was important in the subscription service -- that the sequencing of songs that you listen to affect how you feel."

The interview also shed some vague light on what Apple has in store next, with Cook assuring Rose that there are gadgets that haven't even hit the rumor mill yet (he hinted at a possible TV-related gizmo). Perhaps the most interesting revelation was that former Apple captain Steve Jobs' office hasn't been disturbed since the company founder's death in 2011. "He's in my heart and he's deep in Apple's DNA," Cook said of Jobs. "His spirit will always be the foundation of the company. I literally think about him everyday... His office is still left as it was on the fourth floor, his name is still on the door."

The second installment of the interview will go live today (Sept. 15), but you can check out part one below.
