Ariana Grande garnered massive success upon releasing her album Eternal Sunshine. One of the tracks that boosted the record's popularity was the song "We Can't Be Friends," especially its music video, inspired by Jim Carey's movie The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
More recently, the pop star gave fans an insight into the song's musical process and teased about the next single of her current era.
The Wicked star took to her official Instagram account to share a black-and-white video of herself listening to and layering melodies for the song with Max Martin.
She wrote in the caption, "I found some more behind the scenes of We Can't Be Friends and couldn't wait to share with you."
She further explained in the caption that she feels lucky to work and be friends with Max Martin because the song holds a special place in her heart.
"i can't thank you enough for all of the love you've shown (and continue to show) it," she added.
Ariana Grande Teases Fans About the Next Single of 'Eternal Sunshine'
It's been over a month since "We Can't be Friends" was released, and fans have been waiting for the singer to drop her next single.
It seems like her supporters won't have to wait any longer as she hinted about her next project for her current era of music.

"i know everyone is antsy and excited for the next single (so am i - literally typing this to you while working on ...a something...) but i appreciate your patience, allowing wcbf to continue doing her thing," she wrote.
Although the pop star didn't name her next single, she promised fans she would do her best to make it worth the wait.
Fans Express Excitement Ahead of New Single's Release
After Ariana shared the video, fans speculated about the possible songs she would release next, and some also theorized that she might add new tracks to the album's deluxe edition.

As of this writing, Ariana Grande has yet to share the official release date of her next single.
