Even while Joan Rivers was still comatose in a New York City hospital, her daughter Melissa Rivers was reportedly talking about malpractice being the reason for her condition.

We have heard almost since the beginning that Joan Rivers's endoscopic procedure at the Yorkville Clinic included an attempted biopsy on her vocal cords that never should have taken place. Her personal ENT, Gwen Korovin, attempted the biopsy that ultimately led to her cardiac arrest and, while she went into hiding, Yorkville fired Dr. Lawrence Cohen, the man supposedly in charge of the procedure.

It comes as no surprise to learn that both physicians have since lawyered up.

While neither doctor is accused of any crime at this stage in the investigation, both are gearing up for some serious questioning. Korovin is the doctor who reportedly took a selfie in the operating room with an unconscious Joan Rivers on the table in the background.

Sources say the operating room staff was stunned by the doctor whipping out her cellphone to take the shot, and investigators are apparently quite anxious to see the photo in question.

According to a report"Both physicians are preparing to be questioned by the New York Medical Examiner's Office and the New York Health Department about the circumstances surrounding Joan's death. The New York Police Department is also involved in the investigation, but the medical examiner's office has the lead on it."

This is a complicated situation. Do you think either of these doctors are guilty of criminal negligence that could result in jail time, or will this turn into a strictly civil case? Are Cohen and Korovin's medical licenses on the line? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
