On June 12, 2026, Olivia Rodrigo will release her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, via Geffen Records. The album marks her return after a three-year gap since Guts (2023) and arrives on the heels of two confirmed singles, a Saturday Night Live hosting debut, and a surprise Coachella appearance that sent pop culture into overdrive.
The record was produced entirely by Dan Nigro, Rodrigo's longtime collaborator who shaped both Sour (2021) and Guts (2023). The album is structured in two distinct halves. The first, titled "Girl So in Love," opens with the already-released lead single "Drop Dead" — a high-octane pop track premiered live at Coachella Weekend Two in April during Addison Rae's set — and continues through tracks including "Stupid Song," "Honeybee," "Maggots for Brains," "U + Me = <3," "My Way," and "Purple." The second half, "You Seem Pretty Sad," shifts register: it opens with the indie-rock second single "The Cure" (released May 22) and deepens into tracks including "Begged," "What's Wrong With Me," "Less," "Expectations," and "Cigarette Smoke."
Rodrigo previewed "Begged" during her Saturday Night Live appearance on May 2, performing it seated on a swing — a staging that deliberately echoed the album's cover art. The dual-part structure evokes old-school vinyl formatting: a high side and a heavy side.
Speaking to British Vogue in April, Rodrigo described the album's emotional terrain. "I realized all my favorite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them," she said. "I felt a similar way about falling in love — that the second I'm in a really great relationship, I'm gonna start feeling good about myself, and this stuff is going to fall into place." The record draws on her first "adult relationship," widely understood to reference her time with English actor Louis Partridge, rumored to have ended in late 2025.
Commercially, expectation is enormous. Both of Rodrigo's previous albums debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Sour became Spotify's most-streamed album ever by a female artist, surpassing Beyoncé and Taylor Swift. The Guts World Tour grossed over $200 million across 101 shows, making it the most successful tour by any artist born in the 21st century.
To support the new album, Rodrigo announced the Unraveled Tour on April 30 — an 86-date run across North America and Europe beginning September 25, 2026 in Hartford, Connecticut, and concluding May 10, 2027. Support acts include Wolf Alice, Devon Again, The Last Dinner Party, Grace Ives, and Die Spitz.
If Guts was the sound of teenage hurt weaponized into punk anthems, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love promises something harder to pin down: the sensation of falling in love while bracing for it to fall apart. Seven days from now, we find out if the fear was worth writing about.
