Ryan Murphy has a real knack for producing unique, groundbreaking programming and he is about to add a new show to his roster. American Crime Story: The People Vs. O.J. Simpson is being touted as a companion series to the extremely successful American Horror Story which airs on FX. American Crime Story will take a popular crime story that made national headlines and captivated the public, then spend an entire season going behind the scenes and looking at it from different perspectives. FX has ordered the first season—ten episodes which will focus on the O.J. Simpson trial.

According to FX Networks CEO John Landgraf, this is exactly the kind of project that viewers can really sink their teeth into and who better to introduce us to this new type of miniseries than Murphy himself. Says Landgraf:

"Time and time again, Ryan Murphy has transformed the medium of television by redefining genres and formats as he did with Nip/Tuck, Glee and the American Horror Story franchise, and we expect the same of American Crime Story,I have no doubt that Ryan and his partners, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Brad Falchuk, and Dante Di Loreto are going to make something very memorable here - and that it will be a spectacular first entry in what is destined to become a series of great true crime-based miniseries."

It's no secret that many people love true crime stories and the whole concept of whodunnit so American Crime Story seems like a ratings winner on paper. Plus Murphy has proven himself to be more than capable of making something out of nothing so imagine what he can do when presented with actual facts and legal details.
