Who said The Kinks would never get back together? Oh, that's right, frontman Ray Davies did a few times — most recently in October. The singer appears to be warming up to the idea of a reunion, though, recently telling Rolling Stone that he and brother Dave Davies laid down a few tracks last year. There are also rumblings of a possible tour for 2015. Thank the 1960s rock gods!

During the interview, Ray touches on a variety of topics, including his brother, Dave, who he has been feuding with for most of his life. But it sounds like the two still make music together.

"Look, my brother is very intelligent. He's a good writer," Ray said about Dave, who played guitar for The Kinks. "We actually put down a few demos last Christmas. He came to see me, and he played me a couple of new songs."

That means a tour, right?

"I don't know about next year. I'm doing a studio album of my songs from my book Americana, and I'm going to do a small tour. As for the Kinks, I have to talk to Dave," he added.

The band released a massive career retrospective earlier this month titled The Anthology 1964-1971. It is five CDs and features more than 100 songs from the group's career.

Dave spoke to RS in September and said he would be interested in touring with the band.

"It would be a shame if Ray and I didn't do something next year," he said. "I'm prepared to talk. If Ray's got some great ideas, let me hear them. I have my own ideas about how it should be presented. But I don't want it to be a Ray Davies show where he lets his little brother stand in the corner, which he likes to do. It has to be done properly and respectfully. We have so much great music that goes back so many years. We both want to do something next year."
