It appears that after the Hollywood biopic about Amy Winehouse is being strongly objected by her father Mitch Winehouse. Rumors about the potential movie have been going on for a while since she died in July 2011.

Lady Gaga had even been said to have an interest in playing the role of Winehouse in a film, and in Dec. 2011 the late star's family seemed to be open to a potential film about her. Speaking to Digital Spy on Tuesday at the Amy Winehouse Foundation Ball at London's Dorchester Hotel, the singer's father was firm about his decision not to put the story of his daughter, who died of alcohol poisoning, on the big screen in that format.

"I don't really want to do a biopic, but there's a documentary film from the same people who did Senna coming out next year," he said. He did mention that a staging of some kind of memorial for his daughter would be a possibility, adding: "A concert would be amazing, but it's actually getting it together with the [record label]. It sounds great in theory, but in practice it's not so easy. We are talking about it though."

A biopic seems to be out of the question, but the documentary will continue. NME reported in April: "James Gay-Rees, producer of the Banksy documentary Exit Through The Gift Shop, is also attached the Amy Winehouse film with Focus Features International expected to shop the film to studios at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival."

At the foundation's event Winehouse's father said, "I'm emotional, but happy to be here and grateful for everyone who's come to support us," he said. "It's just wonderful. Amy should be here, but under the circumstances I'm happy."
