Surfjan Stevens has announced that he'll be undertaking a sizable North American tour to accompany the release of Carrie & Lowell, his first release since 2010's The Age of Adz (from Consequence of Sound).

If previous releases have been any indication, Stevens does well after extended periods of rest. The Age of Adz received positive feedback after being released five years after Illinois, which most critics consider to be his crowning achievement thus far. Carrie & Lowell was described as going back to his folk roots, according to a press release from Asthmatic Kitty (the record label founded in part by Stevens). The label hasn't released anything from Stevens for a while and his own last update to Soundcloud was the 2012 "holiday" tune "Justice Delivers Its Death."

While you wait for Justice to deliver its next album from Stevens, you can peruse the list of tour dates below and see where he'll be closest to you. It seems he's aiming for more proper theaters and auditoriums during the tour, based strictly on the venues chosen in our home state of Ohio, plus New York's Beacon Theater.
