When you're vying for the country's vote on American Idol, you have to do whatever it takes to get people buzzing about your performance and vote for you! Last night (March 5), during the top eight girls performances on season 14 of the show, contestant Jax Cole tapped into the major Internet debate, #TheDress, by proving on television that the garment really is black and blue by wearing it on national television during her performance of the Motown classic "Ain't No Mountain High Enough."

After she was announced as one of the top eight female contestants (with just two spots remaining), Jax took the stage in a dress that was very familiar to fans of Internet memes... #TheDress.

Her performance was sultry and hushed, as she made the track all her own. Though Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. didn't love her arrangement, she still is managing to make headlines by wearing the dress on stage.

Even Ryan Seacrest appeared on stage, asking Jax about her dress and pulling his personal iPhone out of his pocket declaring that the screen version still looked white and gold to him (and to us, too).

Seacrest even continued his amazement on the optical illusion on Instagram.

even with @jax wearing the actual dress I still see white/gold in the pic #idolmotown

Whether or not cashing in on the meme will be able to save Jax from elimination is yet to be seen... but until then, really, we're so confused!
