NYC's Dum Dum Girls recently shared an unreleased version of their video for "Coming Down." Featured on Season 3 of OITNB, the single from their sophomore release Only In Dreams is a breathtakingly earnest ballad. Although fans eagerly praised the track's initial celluloid debut, its recent inclusion in this year's season of Netflix's award-winning comedy-drama has given the shoegaze outfit an opportunity to digitally re-issue the single's limited edition 7" through Sub Pop.

Somber yet melodically captivating, DDG's latest video brings to mind the cinematic weight of Jean-Luc Godard meets the lyrical tone of The Stone Roses meets Mazzy Star. Filmed in NYC, the video, shot by Sam Macon, begins in a sun drenched Chinatown, the camera's gaze following Dee Dee Penny's steps through the streets and sidewalks. According to Dee Dee, the role was a challenge. "I couldn't handle starring in such a straight forward, HD role, it was just too much me. I felt exposed and that made me uncomfortable. I look like a kid in it," she explained for Under the Radar. "I look as young and vulnerable as I actually was at that point in my life. It's probably the most honest visual I've done to date, which is probably why I fought it." Despite her initial uneasiness, the video's honesty is shaking.

Much like cuts from DDG's third studio album Too True, "Coming Down" is reminiscent of Phil Spector's girl groups, lush riffs, and dream pop hooks. The revived interest in one of Only In Dreams most memorable songs will undoubtedly expand DDG's already dedicated audience of adoring fans. Similar to the jangly perfection of Haunted Hearts' "Something That Feels Good, Something That Feels Bad," the intimate lyricism of "Coming Down" couples visceral emotives with polished melodics and brilliant chords.
