Jack Black inspired thousands of kids to learn an instrument and join a band with his staring performance in the 2003 movie production of School of Rock, but now a new musical adaption of the film hopes to inspire a new generation of rockers. On Wednesday, School of Rock The Musical released a 360-degree music video for the song "You're In The Band," which allows users to turn the camera around the room and see character Dewey Finn teach the band how to play their instruments.

The musical, like the movie, is about Finn, a struggling musician who impersonates his roommate in order to take a long-term substitute teaching position at a high school. When he discovers the kids can shred, he cancels the entire required curriculum and teaches them to play in a rock 'n' roll band.

"You're In The Band" comes from the scene in the movie when Black's character starts to teach the students to play their respective instruments and assign them roles in the band.

Viewers can choose to follow Finn as he runs around the real New York City schoolroom singing at the students, or simply turn the camera up to the ceiling for a lyric video complete with guitar chords. The goal with this video was to create a fun way to be more engaged with the content and give you an experience closer to that of the stage production.

According to Rolling Stone, Lloyd Webber and Rob Cavallo, who previously worked on Green Day's musical American Idiot, produced "You're In The Band," which serves as the musical's first single. The production will feature three songs from the original movie as well as a new score by Webber and lyricist Glenn Slater.

School of Rock The Musical opens on Broadway's Winter Garden Theater on Dec 6. Watch and interact with the video below.
