Bobby Shmurda is no closer to being a free man. Though on Wednesday (Dec. 2), it looked as though the "Hot N*gga" rapper may finally have his $2 million bond posted, a New York judge has denied his terms of bail.

Shmurda's family had raised the necessary funds for him to be released from Riker's Island prison earlier this week and brought it to a judge. Though the family claimed that their plan, which included the collateral of family property was "bulletproof," TMZ reports the bond was denied and the terms of Shmurda's (real name Ackquille Jean Pollard) bail were changed.

Details remain scarce on exactly what was changed or why Shmurda was denied bail, but this isn't the first time that he's been unable to be released from prison. The 21-year-old emcee has tried to post bail several times before.

Shmurda has been in jail for nearly a year now. The rising rapper was arrested in December 2014 for a variety of gang-related charges, including conspiracy to commit murder and a variety of gun and drug offenses. He is reported to be the gang leader of GS9 in his hometown of Brooklyn. His hit song "Hot N*gga" included lyrics about selling drugs and life as a gang member. Though his lyrics eerily reflect real life crimes, Shmurda claims his boasts were "fabricated."

The song was a bona fide hit for Shmurda, reaching No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Life in jail has been anything but smooth sailing for Shmurda, which may have affected his bail claim. In July, a supposed girlfriend tried to smuggle Shmurda a shank.

His next court date is set for January.
