Among the many high-profile hip-hop albums released today, one that may sneak under the radar is the new LP from Curren$y titled Canal Street Confidential. The LP has some big name features including Future, frequent collaborator Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Wayne, August Alsina and more.
It has a banner year for Spitta. This is the fourth project released by Curren$y in 2015. Following up his the third edition of his celebrated Pilot Talk series, Even More Saturday Night Car Tunes, which was aptly released on April 20, and Cathedral, fans now have another thirteen tracks to cool on from Spitta. The features bring some diverse sounds to the album with some more soulful r&b from Lloyd and August Alsina to similar lane hip-hop from Wiz and Lil Wayne. The Future feature may be his most subdued contribution to a track yet.
At the end of "What's Up" Curren$y tells the story of him and Wiz Khalifa's humble beginnings scrounging up cash from their couch to go down to the Chinese restaurant down the street and grab some grub. This transitions into the pair's smoky collaboration "Winning," which chronicles their rise to the top of the rap game.
Production comes from a variety of different sources, but 808 Mafia have their hands all over the album.
After a long week, this is the perfect music to just sit back and relax with.
