Curren$y's new album, Canal Street Confidential, now has an official release date. His latest studio effort is slated to drop in December.

Nearly a month after it was originally slated to drop, fans can check out Canal in its entirety on Dec. 4. As noted by XXL, The project is led by the August Alsina and Lil Wayne-assisted single, “Bottom of the Bottle,” which made its way to the Internet at the end of August.

Though Curren$y is known for his mellow, smoked out records, he revealed that he's approaching things differently this time around.

“This time, I really sat there with an open mind, listened and worked with a lot of people,” he said. “Everybody loves my normal spacey, slower stuff, but when I do more up-tempo records, it’s a change of pace. I wanted to transfer that and reflect it in the album.”

Canal follows the New Orleans rapper's handful of release this year. In August he gifted fans with surprise mixtape, Cathedral, which featured production from Cashe N Cash. Prior to that he dropped Even More Saturday Night Car Tunes, the third installment to the series and Pilot Talk III, which released on a USB drive for $100.

"Curren$y is one of the few artists that has maintained a steady underground buzz for years," Austin Briggs, Jet Life's digital marketing strategist, said. "We've taken that buzz and turned it to 11. And we're seeing the response."

In March of 2014, the former Cash Money rapper released The Drive-In Theatre as a BitTorrent Bundle. The tape garnished 3 million downloads with the BitTorrent Bundle accounting for 93 percent of downloads.

We're sure Curren$y and his team will come up with a clever rollout for this album as well. Check back with us for more updates.
