Johnny Cash has been dead for more than 10 years now, but new music keeps emerging and it keeps selling as well. This isn't news, but it's interesting to note how music videos from the country legend keep emerging as well. A new lyric video for the track "Out Among The Stars," the title track from Cash's most recent compilation, was revealed to the internet this week.

For those unfamiliar with the track: "Out Among The Stars" traces the story of a down-on-his-luck teenager who robs a store with the full intention of being gunned-down by the police and thus ending a tragic arc. Cash is sympathetic to his protagonist, illustrating the burdens shared by many in similar demographics.

For those familiar with the track: The new animated video takes a less that literal approach to unfolding the plot. It chooses to show pictures of guns and cop cars when mentioned, but doesn't go as far as to include an actual gunfight, and spends much of its time focusing on desert landscapes (and cowboys?) and the night sky described during the chorus. It's nothing mind-blowing, but the track itself is a gem...just another addition to Cash's litany of recordings that sympathize with the little guy.

It's the second video released in coordination with Out Among The Stars. The Cash estate released a video for the downer "She Used To Love Me A Lot" prior to the album's release. We're holding out for a video, lyric or otherwise, to go along with Cash's darkly humorous track "Drove Her Out of My Mind." We're not going to ruin the title's meaning for you, but it doesn't involve a gun.
