Gallant has unveiled a brand new single of his "Stepping Stones" featuring the sensational voice of Jhené Aiko. Premiered earlier today as the hottest record in the world by Zane Lowe on Beats 1, the dreamy new collaboration gives room for both artists to shine as vocalists.

The soulful cut is produced by Adrian Younge, who handles a lot of the work for Gallant, while Stint is present on co-production.

The beat is simple, but elegant with slow drums, with soothing horns and organ and funky bass. This lays the groundwork for the love ballad the pair sing to each other. As Gallant describes to The Fader, it is a song "for the lonely ones this Valentine's Day."

The track finds the pair searching for the causes of their loneliness, whether it is their own faults or those with others.

In the hook they skill as singers come together in harmony, "Find me skipping stones in water brooks / holding out for something I can't force," before they each ask in voices that seem to meld into each other "What am I missing?"

Gallant has seen support from another member of the Beats 1 roster, Elton John, who threw his support behind the Los Angeles-based singer during his early shows last year.

Gallant is gearing up to release his debut artist album, which he revealed last month was at last finished. He has also embarked on a series titled "In The Room," where he covers a track from an artist he admires with them in tow. The first edition was done with Sufjan Stevens who he toured with in the fall of 2015.

Stream "Stepping Stones" below before it is released this Friday, Feb. 5 through Red Bull Sound Select.
