Tina Turner returns to the spotlight with Kygo's remix of "What's Love Got To Do With It," on Friday, July 17.

The Norwegian DJ and record producer updated the 1984 hit song from the Queen of Rock. Kygo first announced her Tina Turner collab via Instagram. "Can't believe I'm releasing a collab with @tinaturner this Friday!" The 28-year-old house music star added that "What's Love Got To Do With It" is one of his "all time favorite songs."

"It feels surreal to get the opportunity to work with such a legendary artist," Kygo added.

Kygo's remix was released with a music video uploaded on his YouTube channel. In the video written and directed by Sarah Bahbah, Laura Harrier and Charles Michael David portray a couple who are falling through. Despite their outward appearance of being a happy couple, they're both plagued by personal issues. Characters lip sync through parts of the song.

The track itself opens with the signature intro, leading to a stripped-back verse with Tina Turner's vocals. A house beat accompanies the chorus and the rest of the song.

Bringing a Queen out of retirement

It has been two decades since Tina Turner has first announced her retirement. As a part of her "Twenty Four Seven" tour, Turner had a July 2000 concert in Zurich, Switzerland. It was during this stop that she announced retiring at the end of the tour.

Her last studio album, "Twenty Four Seven," was released in 1999. It was met with warm critical and commercial response, earning a gold certification from the RIAA. Moreover, its supporting tour was her most successful concert tour so far, grossing more than $100 million.

She later made a public comeback in February 2008, performing with Beyonce at that year's Grammy Awards. Later in the year, in October, she celebrated her fifth decade in the industry "Tina!: 50th Anniversary Tour." It was followed by her compilation album, "Tina!" She later announced her retirement from live performances following the release of her another compilation album, "Love Songs," in 2009.

The house DJ updating beloved 80s tracks

Kygo, born Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll, first gained international fame by remixing Ed Sheeran's "I See Fire," later followed by his own single "Firestone." He also reached 1 billion streams on Spotify in 2015, being the fastest artist at the time to do so. By the following year, he had passed the 2 billion stream mark.

Since then, he has released three studio albums. His debut studio release, "Cloud Nine," was released in May 2016. It featured Maty Noyes, Kodaline, Julia Michaels, Foxes, and more. "Cloud Nine" also contained his smash hit "Firestone," which featured vocals from Australian artist Conrad Sewell. It was followed by "Stole the Show," with Parson James, also topping several singles charts around the world.

Just last year, Kygo broke through the Billboard Hot 100 with her remix of Whitney Houston's 1986 version of "Higher Love."
